Training for the Great Turning
We live at a time of planetary emergency, when the biological support systems on which our lives depend are being dismantled. A mass extinction event is underway as forests disappear, deserts grow, our planet heats up and climates change. Meanwhile economies are in decline, oil reserves become depleted and it is become increasingly clear that a deep-level and far-ranging transformation is required.
The Great Turning involves each of us playing our part in the epic transition to a sustainable society and way of living. At this crucial point in human history, we need to train ourselves to rise to this challenge and give our best response.
Facilitation involves helping something happen. This website focuses on ‘ecological facilitation’, where what we’re helping happen is a strengthening of our capacity to play our part, to make a difference, to find our unique contribution to the recovery of our world.
Facilitation For Life On Earth is a UK-based partnership of experienced trainers (Jenny Mackewn, Chris Johnstone and Kirsti Norris) who recognise the benefits skilled facilitation can bring to the Great Turning. We have been involved with the Work That Reconnects and the Transition movement for many years. We run a range of shorter workshops and a one-year facilitator training and development group known as the Facilitator Development Adventure.
The Facilitator Development Adventure 2015-16Over three residential weekends from Dec 2016 to June 2017 together with an on-line component plus small group and peer support.
Our purpose is to support both experienced and less experienced facilitators to deepen skills, learn from us and each other, strengthen support and grow in competence in facilitating the Work That Reconnects, Inner transition and other transformative processes that strengthen our motivation and capacity to respond to our planetary crisis.
